work and daycare

I found out today that starting in January the perianesthesia and surgery deparments at Gillette will be going to 24 hour call. I have to admit that my heart sunk for a minute. Yes, that means that I could go to work at 2:00 am. But, in reality, I don't think much will change. It would be nice to have a little extra $$$. However, that makes it difficult for me as a single parent. What to do? I put my head to work instead of being pissed off at the world. There has to be care for other nurses and people that have demanding jobs, right? Well, by chance I found a new care center that provides 24 hour care from Monday morning until Saturday morning, including drop off care. And, it's not that they just provide those hours, but that they said what I wanted to hear. They are diverse and have a multi-cultural curriculum. They are working on becoming accredited, not just licensed (they are concerned about quality). It's not cheap, but I can handle it. This would mean I wouldn't have to be stressed about relying on all my dear friends and family for helping me out with daycare on a weekly basis. If this works out, it means that friends and family can just be more of a remote back up!

Oh, about Gillette...fabulous place to work and a great place to be if you're a kid in need of a vast array of specialty health care. If you want to know more and hear about "our" kids go to www.gillettechildrens.com .

Ps. If you know anyone that does daycare or would be willing to do a bit of part time stuff or any other kinds of leads, I will continue to search for many moons!

Pss. Only about, in my guesstimation, 310 more sleeps until baby Nord comes home!
