Time for a new camera?

Ah, the old one is still working, but the battery cover doesn't close all the way anymore. Do I want to take the chance that it will completely break while in Ethiopia? Hhmm... I need to remember to bring that duct tape with. Brad, put that on YOUR packing list. My Coolpix has been a good friend for about the past 4-5 years. My previous camera lasted 18. I would feel a bit guilty getting a new one already. It IS the age of consumerism and "disposable". Any suggestions on a new "good" but not over the top cameras are welcome. I know I like Mom and Dad's Sony Cybershot. I've also become intrigued on the new little Flip video cameras. Amy turned me on to those. That is MY kind of video camera.
