I'm having a hard time deciding on a middle name for Birhane. Before I knew who she was, I knew she would be Charley. But, when I heard her name and story, I fell in love with her name. Not so much with her middle name. I would also like to give her an English name, so she may have options when she identifying with the Ethiopian or American cultures at different points (or, at least I'm expecting that will happen when she is high school or college). Here are my top ideas. (BTW, at my shower, we had everyone go around and put their vote in!)
Birhane Charley (my dad's name)
Birhane DeeAnn (current legal)
Birhane Charlotte (an aunt's name and female form of Charles)
Birhane Jo (but, can I give my daughter the initials BJ????:() (Joanne is my mom's name)
Birhane Elizabeth
Birhane Isabelle
Birhane Andelia (my grandmother's name)
It seems like their were some other suggestions that I liked, but can't remember. Please leave me a comment and feedback on names.

Birhane Charley sounds very good and I also like Birhane Jo. Or, give her two middle names, Birhane Charley Jo!!! I really like the idea of a woman being called Charley. We leave for Finland today. We will spend some time in Sweden, home to your ancestors on your dad's side. Since Birhane will be part Swedish maybe we can find something for her there for her 1st birthday! We share your excitment at the coming home of Birhane. Love, Aunt Nancy and Uncle Don
